Lakeside’s Tristan Cox’s short jumper at the buzzer gave the Eagles a 37-36 win over the Deer Park Stags on Friday.
In a game in which neither team could build up a sizable advantage, the Stags took a 36-35 lead on an Isaac Berglund free throw with 7.3 seconds remaining. Cox, a junior who finished with eight points, took the subsequent inbounds pass, raced down the court and sank the game-winner.
Deer Park forward Chase Wisinger , who was a force inside, led all scorers with 21 points. Fellow big man, Landon Harrington of Lakeside, paced the Eagles with 12 points.
Deer Park, now 5-7 in Northeast A League play and 7-10 overall, travel to league leading Freeman (12-0, 17-0) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
