Deer Park rolls in state playoff opener

The Deer Park soccer team, riding hat tricks from Hannah Carnahan and Livvy Moore, buried the Cle Elum/Roslyn Warriors 11-3 in the opening round of the state Class 1A playoffs today.
Paced by early goals from Jessie Thomas and Moore, the Lady Stags opened up a 3-0 lead only to see the Warriors cut into the margin with goals by Grace Terrill and Grace Jackson.
Deer Park quickly built the lead to 6-2 by halftime and controlled the action in the second half.
The Lady Stags will now play Lakeside or Warden in a quarterfinal match-up either on Friday or Saturday at a time to be deterimined.
