Deer Park still holds top spot in NE-A soccer

The Deer Park soccer team, which found itself in a close game with rival Riverside yesterday for most of the first half, eventually flexed its muscles in a 6-0 victory.
The win boosted the Lady Stags’ Northeast A League record to 7-0 (7-1 overall), while the Lady Rams fell to 3-4, 5-4.
The Lady Stags, which took a 1-0 lead on a Jessie Thomas goal in the opening minute, led the 2-0 at intermission.
Deer Park, however, dominated the game’s final 40 minutes. Among those scoring in the second half was goalkeeper Madison Sellars, who converted a penalty kick.
The win kept the Deer Park squad in top spot in the NE-A standings.
