Lady Stags win Eagle Holiday Classic opener

The Deer Park Lady Stags, relying on their “Twin Towers,” defeated the Lakeland Hawks 51-34 in today’s opening round of the Eagle Holiday Classic at West Valley High School.
The Deer Park pair of 6-footers of JoJo Bunch and Payge Rose combined for 25 points as the Lady Stags improved their overall record to 4-3.
Leading 13-11 after the first quarter, the Lady Stags went on a 7-0 run to pub some distance between themselves and the Hawks.
The margin steadily grew in the second half as Lakeland had no answer for Deer Park’s inside presence.
Lady Stag 5-foot-8 freshman Taylor Lyons led Deer Park with 10 rebounds.
Deer Park’s second game in the Classic will be a 1:30 p.m. encounter with Sandpoint on Friday.
