Late bucket secures Lady Rams' first NE-A win

A three-point play by Riverside’s Brittney Nortz late in the fourth quarter provided all the margin the Lady Rams needed as they scored their first Northeast A League win of the season, a 43-42 victory over Chewelah yesterday.
Nortz’s field goal and free throw gave the Lady Rams’ a 43-39 lead with 1:37 to play. The Lady Cougars cut into the deficit with a pair of free throws by Krislyn Koler and a singly free throw by Larissa Sweat but couldn’t catch the Lady Rams.
The win improved the Lady Rams’ record to 1-12 in Northeast A League play and 4-16 overall. The Lady Cougars fell to 6-7, 11-7.
Koler, who hit a pair of three-pointers in the first half, led all scorers with 20 points. Nortz tossed in 15 points for the Lady Rams while Ava West, who canned a trio of three pointers in the game, added another 11.
The Lady Rams end their season 5:45 p.m. tomorrow at Deer Park (3-10, 7-12).
