Riverside ISP students show off Chinese New Year artwork

Staff Writer

The Independent Scholar Program, Riverside School District’s home school program, is celebrating the Chinese New Year.
A Chinese dragon, made collaboratively by the K-8 grade students is hanging from the ceiling adding some more color to the school. ISP high school students created Chinese lanterns that also add a special touch to the school.
Bonnie Erdman, the school’s community art expert, designs all of the special art projects.
Erdman gives the students many experiences in art through a variety of projects. She has enhanced the students’ education by coaching them in lessons on basic colors, value, texture and symmetry to puppets, paper mache, weaving, wire sculpture, batik, faux stained glass, string art, acrylic painting and pottery projects.
Community members can visit Riverside’s Independent Scholar Program to see the students’ art that lining the walls and ceiling.
