DP Fire Station open house set for Saturday morning

Spokane County Fire District 4 will show off its new fire station in Deer Park to the public during the Settler’s Day celebration on Saturday. Chief Randy Johnson said, “We want to open our doors to the residents of Deer Park during this special city celebration. We want to be a vital part of the Deer Park community and look forward to being a part of Settler’s Day 2018.”
At 8:30 a.m. a hose uncoupling ceremony (similar to ribbon cutting) will take place, followed shortly by a new engine “push in” ceremony. These are time-honored rituals in fire departments when a new engine and station go into service.
City of Deer Park and SCFD4 officials will be in attendance, along with many Fire District 4 members.
There will be guided tours of the facility following the ceremony. Refreshments will be served. The Settler’s Day parade will march in front of the station at approximately 10 a.m. The open house will officially end at noon as not to conflict with the Settlers festivities in Mix Park.
The station, administration offices and community center were completed last month, and the district took occupancy on June 18.
