DP Library to take part in National Voter Registration Day

Staff Writer

The Spokane County Library District, along with more than 3,000 partners nationwide, will help American citizens register to vote or update their voter registration information on National Voter Registration Day, Sept. 25.
During open hours, all district libraries, including the Deer Park branch, will have a voter registration table with voter registration forms, answers to frequently asked questions, and library staff and volunteers to help.
The goal for this year’s National Voter Registration Day is to increase participation in the 2018 midterm and state elections across the country by encouraging Americans to register to vote and make their voices heard at the ballot box.
While presidential elections get the media attention, midterm elections are a chance for voters to not only impact how their state is run but how their state is represented in the federal government.
In Spokane County, elections are happening, including federal bids for U.S. Senate and Congress, state bids for Washington Senate and Legislature, and county-wide bids for several local positions.
Since its founding in 2012, National Voter Registration Day has grown into a massive cultural and civic event with nationwide reach.
