Eagles edge Lady Stags in District VII soccer tourney

The Lakeside Eagles used a pair of goals by Jordyn Newman in a span of less than 3 minutes in the second half to get by the Lady Stags 2-1 in the second round of the District VII tournament yesterday.
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Stags struck first on a penalty kick by Livvy Moore. The Eagles, who shut down the Lady Stags’ offense for most of the game, responded with Newsom’s markers.
Deer Park, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, will now face Colville 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Joe Albi Stadium in a loser-out game. Lakeside will meet Freeman for the district championship at 5:30 p.m.
