Nine Mile Reservoir draw down ready to start

Staff Writer

Avista will draw down Nine Mile Reservoir 12 feet starting Sept. 21 for approximately two months. This drawdown will allow Avista crews to perform maintenance and repair activities on Nine Mile Dam.
As in the past, Avista will take two days to draw the reservoir down in an effort to minimize erosion and other effects on aquatic resources. The Nine Mile Reservoir drawdown does not affect the water level in Lake Spokane.
The water is drawn down at a rate no greater than 4 inches per hour to limit impacts to natural resources. The drawdown will take approximately 36 hours to complete. The water level is expected to return to its current level by Nov. 15, after the maintenance and repair work is complete.
