P-O County receives clean state audit

The Washington State Auditor’s Office has given the Pend Oreille County a clean slate following the release of an accountability audit report earlier this month.
The audit — which covered the period between Jan. 1, 2016-Dec. 31, 2016 — is designed to ensure compliance and the adequate safeguarding of public resources from fraud, loss and abuse.
The auditor’s office looked at the county’s use of restricted funds, cash receipting at the solid waste department, payments/expenditures, self-insurance (unemployment compensation) and procurement (bidding).
