Sheriff's Department looking into suspicious Hunters' fires

The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a joint investigation with the Department of Natural Resources Investigations Division into four suspicious brush fires that have occurred along roadways in the Hunters area in the past four weeks.
The fires have been determined to be human-caused and believed to be criminal in nature, according to Chief Deputy Brad Manke. Details of the investigation cannot be released at this time as the investigation is ongoing, he added
The Sheriff's Office remains the point of contact for the investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office and DNR are requesting the public to be vigilant when traveling in these areas and to report any suspicious activity or tips to the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at (509) 684-2555 or 911 if the call is an emergency.
