The Washington State Auditor’s Office has given Spokane County a clean slate following the release of an accountability audit reports this week.
The audit — which covered the period between Jan. 1, 2016-Dec. 31, 2016 — is designed to ensure compliance and the adequate safeguarding of public resources from fraud, loss and abuse.
The auditor’s office looked at the county Conservation District’s procedures relating to the elections department (cash receipting, payroll, cost allocation and disbursements); Sheriff’s Department (citations, petty cash disbursements, property room and disposition of property); procurement (public works, sole source and emergency and facilities department purchases); jail (inmate charges from other jurisdictions, work release, kitchen purchases and inventory) and prisoner accounts and property); payroll (overtime and gross wage recalculation); credit card disbursements.
