Squires, former Riverside football & basketball coach passes away

Daryl Squires, who coached football and basketball at Riverside High School in the late 1950s, passed away on May 31 in Lynden, Wash., at the age of 85.
Squires, who played football at Whitworth College, coached football and basketball at Riverside in 1958 and 1950.
While the Rams’ 1958 football and basketball records remains sketchy, Squires’ 1959 football team finished 8-1, including a 72-0 win over Kettle Falls in the season finale. The basketball team, aided by a 12-game winning streak, finished the regular season with a 17-3 record.
Squires taught history and biology at RHS.
He later coached for two stints at Whitworth along with coaching at Rogers, Shoreline, Cle Elum, Anacortes and Bellevue High Schools.
