Stags fall; Lady Stags rise in latest RPI polls

The Deer Park boys basketball team dropped and the girls team rose in Washington Interscholastic Activities Association's latest RPI basketball polls.
The Stags (4-6), which were ranked 36th among Class 1A schools in the December RPI poll, fell 42nd place to the latest poll released yesterday. The Riverside Rams (2-9) jumped from 58th place in December to 55th this month.
Northeast A League power Freeman (10-0) continues to hold down the top Class 1A spot. Newport is ranked seventh.
On the girls’ side, the Deer Park Lady Stags (4-6) jumped from 50th place in December to 35th place in the latest Class 1A poll. Riverside fell slightly from 47th place to the 49th spot.
Lynden Christian holds the top spot among Class 1A schools. Medical Lake is the top ranked Northeast A League girls team in ninth place.
Among the state's Class 2B schools, Springdale (4-6) holds down the 41st spot in the boys’ ranks. The Chargers were ranked 47th in December.
Toledo (9-2) is ranked first, while St. George's, one of two remaining unbeaten Class 2B schools (Tri-Cities Prep is the other), is ranked fourth. The Dragons were ranked fifth in December.
The Springdale girls team fell one spot in January to 55th place.
Ilwaco is the state's Class 2B girls team with St. George's ranked second.
