Stags romp on tournament opener

The Deer Park Stags, staked to a 9-run third inning, eliminated Lakeside 12-2 in the opening round of the District VII baseball tournament.
The Stags, who improved to 14-5 on the season, play second-seeded Chewelah in the double-elimination round of the tournament.
Deer Park sent 14 batters to the plate third inning. The Stags scored seven times in the frame before the Eagles could record an out.
Senior Trayton Bird was the hitting star for the Stags with a single, double and triple.
Pitcher Hunter Dryden limited Lakeside to only two hits in his four innings of work. Tanner Bratcher tossed a scoreless fifth inning.
