Stevens County deputy recognized for work on animal cruelty cases

Staff Writer

Stevens County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Jessica Garza was recognized by Pasado’s Safe Haven for her work in the investigation and prosecution of animal cruelty cases. As part of the recognition with one of the group’s Bucky Awards, Garza will receive $500 for the Stevens County Sheriff's Office to purchase equipment to aid in the investigation of animal cruelty.
The particular case resulting in this award stemmed from Garza’s work in a 2017 investigation where more than 30 dogs and several cats were rescued and suspects were arrested and convicted of animal cruelty.
