CHATTAROY — Four people were transported to local hospitals following a three-car accident on U.S. Highway 2 near Chattaroy Road on Sunday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Alvera S. Quaschnick, 93, of Deer Park was traveling eastbound at around 11:54 a.m. on Chattaroy Road in a 2006 Mercury Montego when she tried to turn into the southbound lane of U.S. 2 and struck by a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Trevor A. Hansen, 41 of Spokane.
The impact forced Quaschnick’s car into the other southbound lane where it was struck by a 2006 Ford Econoline driven by Rochelle N. Anderson, 34 of Port Orchard, Wash.,
Anderson’s vehicle rolled over and came to rest in the center median. Quaschnick’s vehicle also ended up in the center median. Hansen was able to pull his vehicle to the shoulder of the highway.
Quaschnick and her passenger, Johanna K. Hagg, 85, of Spokane, were transported to a Spokane hospital as were Anderson and her passenger, Kristopher D. Anderson, 37.
Hansen was not injured.
The WSP said Quaschnick will be cited for failure to yield the right-of-way.
