Waunch crowned newest Miss Deer Park

Abigail Waunch was crowned the 65th Miss Deer Park in ceremonies on Saturday at Mead High School.
Waunch, who received a $1,950 scholarship for winning the title, became the third Miss Deer Park to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Christy (Lentz) was named Miss Deer Park in 1994.
Waunch will represent the city at various events in Eastern Washington along with Princesses Kristina Shupe and Brooke Begani. Each girl will receive a $1,300 scholarship.
Shupe also won $200 scholarships for winning the creative and performing arts portion of the program with her Irish dance routine and winning the fitness section.
Alexis Tuman earned $200 scholarships for winning the program’s presence and composure and Spirit of Miss Deer Park portions.
Kelsey Gillaspy earned $200 scholarships for winning the program’s scholastic and judges’ interview sections while Heatherly DeWitt took home the $200 Bill and Bette Cox Community Service Scholarship.
