Construction of the roundabouts on U.S. Highway 395 at two Deer Park intersections is expected to start this summer.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Al Gilson, preliminary plans call for the advertisement of bids in mid-March with the bid opening the following month. Gilson hopes to have work on the $4 million project started in mid-June.
Gilson said preliminary plans will have construction will start at the 60-foot roundabout at the Main Street intersection. The Main Street project will also include the paving of Short Road between Burroughs Road and the Main Street intersection. The roundabout at the Crawford/Monroe intersection will not start until the Main Street roundabout is completed.
The final step in the construction project will be the closure of Burroughs Road intersection leading to Deer Park.
